Overview

PocketMode is a pocket-detection app for Android that prevents accidental screen touches when your device is in a pocket or bag. Your privacy is important to us. This policy explains what data PocketMode accesses and how it is used.

Data We Do Not Collect

PocketMode does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data. Specifically, the app:

  • Does not collect your name, email address, or any personal identifiers.
  • Does not use analytics, crash-reporting, or tracking libraries.
  • Does not connect to the internet or any remote server.
  • Does not share any information with third parties.

Permissions Explained

PocketMode requests only the permissions necessary for its core functionality:

  • Display over other apps (SYSTEM_ALERT_WINDOW) — Used to show a blocking overlay that prevents accidental touches when the device is in your pocket.
  • Foreground service (FOREGROUND_SERVICE / FOREGROUND_SERVICE_SPECIAL_USE) — Keeps the proximity sensor monitor running reliably in the background with a persistent notification.
  • Start on boot (RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED) — Optional. Allows PocketMode to automatically arm itself when your device restarts, if you have enabled this setting.

Proximity sensor data is read locally through the Android SensorManager API and is never stored or transmitted anywhere.

Local Storage

The app stores a small number of preferences on your device using Android's SharedPreferences. These include your chosen monitoring state, auto-arm setting, long-press duration, and display preferences. This data never leaves your device.

Children's Privacy

PocketMode does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children under the age of 13. Because no data is collected at all, the app is safe for users of all ages.

Changes to This Policy

If the privacy practices of PocketMode change, this page will be updated accordingly. You are encouraged to review this policy periodically.
